Mechanical Design Engineer – Sheet Metal
to be a key contributor to our product development and manufacturing excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop sheet metal enclosures, cabinets, junction boxes, and related components in line with project specifications.
  • Create accurate 3D models and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CREO, or equivalent CAD tools.
  • Generate and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM), fabrication related drawings, and comprehensive design documentation.
  • Ensure product designs adhere to relevant standards (BIS, IEC, IECEx, IECEd, PESO,UL,CE etc.,), and meet safety, quality, and functional requirements.
  • Optimize designs for cost-effectiveness, manufacturability, and structural integrity.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Quality, Procurement, Estimation, Sales, and Service teams for successful project execution.
  • Accountable for prototyping, testing, and final product validation.
  • Investigate and resolve design issues, incorporating feedback from internal teams, vendors, and clients.
  • Contribute to the setup and implementation of design systems, SOPs, ISO documentation, 5S, and KAIZEN practices in the new facility.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in sheet metal design including new product development, preferably within electrical panel or enclosure manufacturing.
  • Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD tools: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CREO, etc.
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes such as CNC turret punching, laser cutting, bending, welding, and surface finishing.
  • Familiar with GD&T, mechanical tolerances, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
  • Ability to interpret and apply technical specifications for sheet metal engineering.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in new product development, validations or participating in greenfield project setups.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and PDM/PLM platforms for managing design data and documentation.
  • Knowledge of powder coating, IP-rated enclosure design, and considerations for hazardous environments Enclosures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to manage multiple design projects and collaborate effectively across teams.
