Role & responsibilities :

  • Oversee Shift Operations: Manage daily activities across melting, heat treatment, and furnace sections ensuring production targets and quality standards are met.
  • Process Control & Optimization: Monitor and adjust parameters for induction, arc, or gas-fired furnaces to maintain metallurgical integrity and energy efficiency.
  • Heat Treatment Execution: Supervise annealing, tempering, quenching, and normalizing cycles; ensure compliance with material specifications and hardness profiles.
  • Material Handling & Charging: Coordinate safe and accurate charging of raw materials, alloys, and fluxes into furnaces; ensure proper sequencing and documentation.
  • Equipment Monitoring & Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections, identify faults, and coordinate preventive maintenance for furnaces, thermocouples, and control systems.
  • Quality Assurance: Validate chemical composition, microstructure, and mechanical properties through in-process checks and lab coordination.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety protocols, PPE usage, and emergency procedures; maintain records for audits and statutory compliance.
  • Manpower Supervision: Allocate tasks, train operators, and ensure shift discipline and productivity.
  • Production Reporting: Maintain shift logs, downtime records, and production summaries; escalate deviations and suggest corrective actions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to reduce conversion costs, improve furnace lining life, and enhance throughput using lean and TPM principles.

Technical Exposure :

  • Induction Furnace (IF), Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM)
  • Heat treatment furnaces with PLC/SCADA integration
  • Metallurgical analysis: spectrometer, hardness tester, microstructure evaluation
