Job Description: Buyer / Senior Buyer OpEx (Procurement)

Basic Overview:

Location : Bengaluru, India

Role Description:

This role is responsible for managing the end-to-end sourcing of operational expense items and should possess expertise in sourcing key categories required for a garmenting division. The incumbent will ensure timely procurement of goods and services at optimal cost, quality, and lead time. The role requires close coordination with production, maintenance (mechanical and electrical), compliance, and administrative teams to ensure uninterrupted factory operations and timely fulfilment of unit requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with production, maintenance (mechanical and electrical), compliance, and administrative teams to identify and plan operational expense (OpEx) and material requirements for the assigned garmenting unit.
  • Lead all purchases related to a specific category under operational spends across all garmenting units of Arvind and ensure timely conversion of requisitions (PR) to purchase orders (PO).
  • Execute end-to-end sourcing activities including floating inquiries, obtaining quotations, and conducting comparative analyses, negotiating prices and terms, and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Monitor supplier performance on key parameters such as cost, quality, responsiveness, and on-time delivery (OTD), and escalate deviations or risks to the procurement lead.
  • Support cost optimization initiatives through value engineering, alternate sourcing, and process simplification.
  • Maintain accurate procurement data in ERP (SAP/others) and prepare periodic reports on PR to PO status, supplier performance, and cost savings.
  • Support vendor development and on boarding activities and strengthen the supplier base for his/her respective OpEx material category.

Requirements / Skills:

  • Education: B.Tech / B.E. (Mechanical /Electrical / Industrial) and/or MBA in (SCM / Operations).
  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in procurement or sourcing plant OpEx, preferably within apparel / garment manufacturing units.
  • Strong understanding of vendor management, costing, and procurement processes
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP or equivalent)
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Production, Maintenance, Stores, Admin, Compliance, HR, and Finance teams
