Role Overview:

The Storage Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, management, and support of the organizations storage infrastructure, including SAN (Storage Area Network), NAS (Network Attached Storage), and cloud-based storage systems. You will ensure the integrity and availability of data for critical systems, backups, and disaster recovery operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Storage Management

  • Administer and maintain enterprise-level storage solutions (SAN, NAS, DAS, Object Storage)
  • Manage storage provisioning, zoning, LUN creation, and allocation for servers and applications
  • Monitor storage capacity, performance, and health using tools and dashboards

Backup & Recovery

  • Manage backup and restore operations using enterprise backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, CommVault, Veritas, Rubrik)
  • Ensure data protection strategies align with business continuity and disaster recovery requirements
  • Perform periodic disaster recovery drills and validation tests

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose and resolve storage-related hardware and software issues
  • Apply firmware upgrades, patches, and configuration changes as needed
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Monitor system logs, performance metrics, and alerts to ensure storage availability
  • Generate usage and capacity reports and recommend optimizations
  • Assist in forecasting future storage needs based on data growth trends
