Role Description

Roles of a Solar Project Manager

  1. Project Leader
    – Oversees the entire solar project from planning to commissioning.
  2. Coordinator
    – Connects engineers, installers, vendors, and clients.
  3. Planner
    – Establishes timelines, budgets, and project scope.
  4. Compliance Manager
    – Ensures all work meets regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
  5. Problem Solver
    – Handles on-site issues, delays, or technical challenges.
  6. Communicator
    – Provides progress updates to stakeholders and keeps everyone aligned.

Qualifications

Core Responsibilities

1.Project Planning

  • Define project scope, schedule, budget, and resource needs.
  • Coordinate site assessments and feasibility studies.

2.Team & Contractor Coordination

  • Manage engineers, installers, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Ensure everyone understands timelines and responsibilities.

3.Permitting & Compliance

  • Secure necessary permits, approvals, and inspections.
  • Ensure the project meets local codes, environmental rules, and safety standards.

4.Procurement & Logistics

  • Source solar panels, inverters, racking, and other materials.
  • Manage delivery schedules and inventory.

5.Construction Oversight

  • Monitor installation progress on-site or remotely.
  • Solve construction issues and maintain quality control.

6.Budget & Schedule Management

  • Track expenses, mitigate cost overruns, and keep the project on schedule.

7.Stakeholder Communication

  • Provide updates to clients, investors, or company leadership.
  • Serve as the main point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.

8.Testing & Commissioning

  • Ensure the system operates correctly.
  • Oversee final inspections and handover to the customer.
