Job Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned Technical Project Manager with strong technical acumen and leadership

capabilities to manage the end-to-end execution of this complex migration. The ideal candidate will

be experienced in leading cross-functional, distributed engineering teams, adept at handling

multiple stakeholders, and skilled in Agile delivery and reporting.

Project Overview:

We are kicking off a large-scale migration project to modernize an existing Ruby on Rails (RoR)

application into a Java Spring Boot Microservices-based architecture. This initiative will span multiple

teams, technologies, and geographies, with over 50+ team members collaborating across different

time zones. The application being migrated supports a customer base of over one million users,

requiring high reliability, scalability, and precise coordination.

Key Responsibilities:


• Lead and manage the migration project from Ruby on Rails to Java Spring Boot Microservices


• Oversee planning, tracking, risk management, and quality assurance for all phases of the

migration


• Coordinate work across 50+ team members from multiple countries and time zones


• Facilitate Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups


• Work closely with engineering leads, architects, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders


• Maintain project schedules and deliverables using JIRA and other project management tools


• Ensure strong documentation, regular status reporting, and stakeholder alignment


• Act as the key liaison for leadership team updates and client-facing communications


• Drive continuous improvement and manage dependencies across technical workstreams


• Lead incident or change management discussions when needed

Technical Skills & Experience:


• 10+ years of experience in software project management with a strong technical background


• Proven success in leading enterprise-scale migration projects


• Deep understanding of Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and modern architecture principles


• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails is a plus for effective transition planning


• Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and hands-on experience with JIRA,

Confluence, etc.


• Experience in managing large, distributed teams across different time zones


• Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills for leadership reporting


• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities


• Proven experience managing projects with a user base exceeding one million customers

Preferred Qualifications:


• PMP, CSM, or equivalent project management certification


• Experience working in a multi-vendor or hybrid team structure


• Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD, and cloud-native environments (AWS)


• Background in software engineering or system architecture
