Electrical commissioning engineer with extensive experience in commissioning, startup, and handover of electrical MV distribution systems, transformers, switchgear, motors, control systems, and soft starter system along with associated components for an Offshore Oil & Gas project.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and execute the pre commissioning, commissioning, trial run, acceptance testing and hand over of MV soft starter system and associated components on an Oil & Gas project.
  • Performing physical inspections of all wiring, connections, motors, and other components to ensure proper installation as per prescribed standards.
  • Perform functional testing, startup, and energization of key electrical assets associated with the project.
  • Performing comprehensive tests to verify the correct operation of the soft starter, ensuring it controls voltage, current, and torque for smooth acceleration and deceleration.
  • Adjust and Optimize soft starter's settings, such as ramp-up time, start voltage, and current limits, using both specialized software and manual process.
  • Configuring and parameterizing soft starters to match specific motor and application requirements.
  • Compiling and finalizing all project documentation, including reports, backup files for configurations, and signed-off results, to maintain a traceable history.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Deep understanding of electrical circuits, motor theory, and power distribution systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems.
  • Ability to use multimeters, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and other applicable tools to diagnose faults.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Required Bachelors Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Required - Minimum 8 years experience in Electrical Commissioning.
  • Required - Previous experience working on Offshore Platform.
  • Work under strict safety procedures.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to see color to discern color-coded instructions.
  • Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.
  • Must be physically capable of installing equipment in tight and restricted spaces
