Position: Assistant Manager – Portfolio

Location: SINE, IIT Bombay, Powai, Mumbai

About SINE

Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE) at IIT Bombay is an umbrella organization fostering entrepreneurship and nurturing tech start-ups. SINE administers a business incubator that provides start-to-scale support for technology-based entrepreneurship and enables the conversion of research into successful ventures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the implementation of startup support and investment programs under SINE's portfolio.
  • Manage the complete lifecycle of portfolio startups including onboarding, engagement, reporting, and performance tracking.
  • Collaborate with leadership and legal teams to structure and finalize incubation/investment term sheets and agreements.
  • Act as the primary liaison between startup founders, legal teams, investors, and ecosystem stakeholders.
  • Develop and streamline processes (online and offline) for portfolio and investment management.
  • Conduct market research and track portfolio performance through dashboards and reviews.
  • Identify and connect portfolio startups with funding opportunities (grants, equity, debt).
  • Coordinate and manage financial, compliance, and administrative activities for funding programs supported by government and corporate partners.
  • Evaluate startup applications, assess technology novelty and business potential.
  • Organize events such as Demo Days, Investor Meets, Portfolio Reviews, and Startup Showcases with the outreach team.
  • Mentor portfolio companies on fundraising readiness, pitch preparation, and investor connects.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree (B.Com / B.E. – Mechanical, Electrical, Technology, Electronics & Communication, Computer Science).
  • CA Inter / MBA preferred with experience in Investment or Portfolio Management.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in startup investment, portfolio management, or incubation programs.
  • Strong knowledge of startup ecosystem and investment frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Power BI.
  • Exposure to startup grants, investment processes, and ecosystem engagement.
  • Passion to work closely with startups.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to ₹900,000.00 per year
