Job Summary

The position will oversee and manage all transportation operations to ensure timely, cost-effective, and safe movement of finished goods across the Emami supply chain network. This role requires strong operational expertise, knowledge of regulatory requirements in India, vendor management skills, and the ability to optimize logistics performance in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

Key Responsibilities

Transportation Operations Management

Plan, schedule, and execute daily dispatches of finished goods from plant/warehouse to distributors, depots, and retailers.

Monitor vehicle allocation, routing, and load planning to minimize turnaround time and maximize efficiency.

Track end-to-end delivery status and manage exceptions proactively.

Manage relationships with transporters, fleet owners, and logistics service providers.

Negotiate rates, service-level agreements and contract terms with transport vendors.

Monitor vendor performance (OTIF, damages, compliance, claims).

Cost & Performance Optimization

Analyse transportation cost trends and identify areas for savings.

Implement route optimization, vehicle utilization, and freight cost control initiatives.

Prepare regular MIS, KPIs, on transport efficiency.

Freight Bill Checking process

Compliance, Safety & Documentation

Ensure adherence to all government laws and regulations related to transport—RTO norms, permits, e-way bills, GST documentation, and safety guidelines.

Oversee driver compliance (safety behaviour).

Manage documentation for dispatch, transit insurance, POD collection, and claim settlements.

Coordination & Stakeholder Management

Work closely with production, warehouse, planning, sales, and customer service teams to synchronize dispatch schedules.

Coordinate with distributors and key customers regarding delivery timelines and expectations.

Handle escalations related to delayed shipments, vehicle shortages, or quality issues.

Technology & Process Improvement

Use transport management systems (TMS), GPS tracking, ERP modules (SAP), and digital documentation platforms.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the transport network.

Implement best practices for safe and environment-friendly transportation.

Required Qualifications

MBA / PG Diploma in Supply Chain TMS (preferred).

Experience

5–7 years of experience in logistics management, preferably in FMCG, manufacturing, industries.

Experience handling high-volume dispatches and multi-location distribution networks.

Key Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of Indian transportation laws, FMCG logistics operations, and route management.

Excellent vendor management and negotiation skills.

Good understanding of TMS and SAP

Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.

Leadership, team management, and communication abilities.

Ability to work under pressure and manage time-sensitive operations.

Flexibility to work beyond standard hours during peak seasons or urgent dispatch requirements.
