Role & responsibilities:

Strategic Vision & Portfolio Management: Develop and implement a clear vision for the PMO that aligns with the company's strategic HR and people goals. Establish and manage a comprehensive portfolio management framework to track and prioritize all HR programs and projects. The role also involves overseeing and aligning multiple programs and projects with business vision and priorities.

Governance & Standardization: Design, implement, and maintain a strong governance model to ensure the success of HR projects and people transformation programs. This includes setting up and embedding frameworks, policies, and reporting mechanisms to drive consistency. Standardize project management practices by overseeing a library of templates, tools, and methodologies.

Performance Tracking & Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and a robust performance tracking system. Provide clear, concise, and regular reports to senior leadership on the status, health, and progress of the entire HR project portfolio. Define KPIs, track benefits, and ensure delivery against outcomes.

Communication & Influence: Serve as a key advisor to HR operations and transformation leadership, providing strategic insights on people and culture initiatives. Articulate complex ideas with global stakeholders and influence decision-making at the highest level. This includes managing relationships with senior leaders, sponsors, and cross-functional teams.

Leadership & Team Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of project managers and program managers. Provide subject matter expertise, mentorship, and professional development support to team members. Lead, coach, and mature the PMO function while building capability across the team.

Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to ensure successful delivery. This includes proactive identification, mitigation, and escalation across the portfolio.

Financial & Resource Management: Oversee budgets, resourcing, and ensure the efficient use of investment.

Change & Transformation: Drive large-scale transformation initiatives with a strong change management mindset, ensuring the PMO adds value beyond simple reporting.

Preferred candidate profile:

  • Proven experience leading a large-scale PMO within a Human Resources or corporate function, with a focus on people transformation, change management, or HR technology.
  • Demonstrable depth of experience as a PMO Lead in a large global business, ideally in a matrix or federated environment.
  • Exceptional ability to create and manage a holistic view of an organization's HR and people priorities.
  • Deep expertise in governance with a track record of implementing effective structures and processes.
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills with the ability to define a clear vision and thought process.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and engage with stakeholders at all levels, including the Executive Committee.
  • Extensive experience with portfolio management, performance tracking, and developing standardized project methodologies and templates.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools (e.g., PMP, Prince2).
  • A PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
