Job Description

Team Summary

The Business Optimisation team has a simple mission: we turn massive amounts of data into actionable insights that drive business value. Our analytic consultants and data analysts work with Visa's clients and internal colleagues to improve portfolio and product performance, program profitability and cardholder experiences around the world. By coupling in-depth analysis of portfolio behavior with Visa's world-class products, digital offerings and marketing capabilities, we ensure our clients' programs operate at their peak potential and that cardholders have seamless commerce experiences in both the physical and digital world.

Responsibilities

This role derives analytic insights into client performance improvements and helps to deliver those findings to external and internal stakeholders. Prior to completing an analysis, this role will formulate and source the necessary datasets from internal tools and platforms, rendering insights in compelling presentations and visualisations.

Specific activities may include

• Create and present analytic deliverables to external Visa clients, colleagues in the Business Optimisation team, and other internal stakeholders with varying degrees of analytical and technical expertise
• Gain an understanding of root problems, define analytical objectives, and formalise data requirements for various types of analyses
• Combine and analyse disparate data sources and derive insights in a Big Data environment
• Proactively facilitate the overall analytic delivery strategy for the organisation

Qualifications

• At least 1.5-3 years of experience working in data analysis and insight delivery
• Experience with creating business value using data
• Degree in a quantitative field
• Proficient manipulating data from a variety of sources - Big data skills (Hadoop, Hive, Python, Spark) and SQL skills required
• Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
• Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
• Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages and drawbacks is a plus
• Experience visualising data with tools is a plus
• Effective verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Must be proficient in all MS Office applications with advanced Excel spreadsheet skills and PowerPoint
• Knowledge of the payments industry is a plus
