Foundry Quality Manager

To provide leadership and technical expertise to develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) within the foundry. The core mission is to minimize defects, reduce scrap and rework costs, drive continuous improvement, and ensure all castings are of the highest integrity and quality.
Key Responsibilities1. Quality Management Systems (QMS) & Compliance
- Establish and Maintain QMS: Develop, implement, and manage quality policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and work instructions, often aligned with international standards like ISO 9001, IATF Automotive), or AS9100 (Aerospace).
- Audit Management: Plan and execute internal and external quality audits. Manage the audit program to maintain third-party accreditations and customer certifications.
Documentation: Ensure all quality-related documentation (inspection records, test reports, control plans, non-conformance reports) is accurate, up-to-date, and traceable.
Quality Control & Assurance (QA/QC)
Process Control: Define and monitor critical process parameters (e.g., sand conditioning, melt temperature, pouring speed) to ensure consistent and stable casting operations.
- Inspection and Testing: Oversee all inspection and testing activities, including:
- Incoming Materials: Quality checks on raw materials (e.g., sand, metal ingots, alloying elements).
- In-Process Checks: Monitoring mold preparation, core making, and melting.
- Final Product Testing: Managing mechanical testing (tensile, hardness), non-destructive testing (NDT) such as Radiographic (X-ray) testing, Ultrasonic testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, and dimensional inspections.
Non-Conformance Management: Lead investigations into internal and external quality failures, customer complaints, and warranty issues.
Continuous Improvement (CI)
Problem Solving: Lead cross-functional teams in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurring defects.
- CI Initiatives: Champion and drive continuous improvement programs such as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing to reduce the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), scrap, and rework.
Data Analysis: Use quality metrics and Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and identify process trends.
Leadership & Team Management
Staff Development: Supervise, mentor, and train Quality Engineers, Technicians, and inspectors on quality systems and procedures.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain departments to streamline operations and resolve quality issues.
