The Trainee in the Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) industry will assist in various functions across different departments such as kitchen operations, customer service, and restaurant management. The individual will undergo on-the-job training to develop the necessary skills and knowledge required to deliver high-quality customer experiences, maintain operational efficiency, and understand the processes involved in managing a QSR business. The position is an entry-level role aimed at building a strong foundation for a successful career in the hospitality and foodservice industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
Greet and interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Assist customers with their orders and inquiries, ensuring a high level of service.
- Handle complaints and concerns with a positive, problem-solving attitude.
Ensure customer satisfaction by maintaining cleanliness, ensuring quality food presentation, and providing a welcoming environment.
Food Preparation (Kitchen Operations):
Assist in the preparation of food items following standardized recipes and portion control.
- Ensure that food is cooked and served in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain food safety and hygiene standards in the kitchen.
Operate kitchen equipment such as fryers, grills, ovens, and blenders under supervision.
Operational Support:
Help with restocking supplies in the kitchen, storage areas, and service counters.
- Assist in inventory management and stock rotation as required.
- Follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
- Ensure the proper setup and cleaning of workstations.
Assist with cash register operations and managing the point-of-sale (POS) system.
Teamwork:
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth operations during shifts.
- Work alongside experienced staff to learn about restaurant procedures and improve personal skills.
Support the team in ensuring efficient service during peak hours.
Training and Development:
Participate in training programs and on-the-job coaching to develop skills in food preparation, customer service, and restaurant management.
- Learn about food safety regulations, inventory control, and staff management.
- Complete any assessments or certification programs required for the role.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. A passion for the food service industry is preferred.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to engage with customers.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Customer Focus: Strong customer service orientation with an understanding of customer needs.
- Time Management: Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
- Problem Solving: Ability to resolve issues in a calm and effective manner.
- Adaptability: Willingness to learn new tasks and work across various functions in the restaurant.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to lift up to 25-30 pounds as needed.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
