About the Internal Audit Group at American Express
Our Internal Audit Group is a worldwide function with 300+ team members and offices across nine countries within American Express. Our mission is to protect and enhance organizational value by providing independent, objective, risk-based assurance, advisory services and to influence the way the company manages risk.
We are committed to growing our audit staff significantly as we continue to expand and enhance the Internal Audit Group. Our assurance and risk professionals have diverse backgrounds including internal controls, consumer compliance, technology, operational risk, financial accounting, data analytics, and banking operations. Our audit teams align to key risk areas and business units to ensure IAG can provide comprehensive and risk-based audit coverage. In addition, IAG has a Professional Practices group responsible for managing audit operations, quality, and standards; regulatory relations; reporting; training and professional development; and key internal capabilities and technologies.
About the Role
This IAG COE Strategy and Administration Manager role will be based out of Gurgaon, India and support the Internal Audit Group's Resources Center of Excellence (COE). The position is responsible for managing resource requests, scheduling and confirming allocations, and ensuring smooth coordination between audit teams and COE resources. The role also drives feedback and performance processes to enhance efficiency and contribute to the COE's continued growth. The ideal candidate should be a mature and self-aware communicator who can effectively influence at all levels of management, multitask, and prioritize as business needs evolve.
Key Responsibilities
- Resource Management & Allocation
- Handle and prioritize resource requests received from IAG leadership.
- Communicate proactively with leadership regarding allocation decisions, timelines, and any resourcing changes.
- Maintain a live tracking mechanism to monitor resource availability, assignments, and forecasted demand.
- Support hiring and onboarding new resources in alignment with capacity planning.
- Performance & Development Support
- Initiate and coordinate completion of performance feedback forms for allocated resources.
- Summarize insights and share performance trends with COE leadership to guide coaching and development efforts.
- Operational Excellence & Process Improvement
- Assist in the creation and execution of strategies, processes, and initiatives aligned with COE goals.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process efficiency, automation, and digitization.
- Support scaling of the COE's operating model and resource base through identification of new opportunities
- Stakeholder & Communication Management
- Manage communication and coordination with multiple IAG teams and global stakeholders.
- Develop impactful internal communications, including key announcements and updates.
- Lead colleague engagement activities and related initiatives across IAG India and Asia Pacific Teams.
- Reporting & Analytics
- Partner with leadership to track and analyze key KPIs such as utilization rates, satisfaction scores, and turnaround times.
- Develop and deliver insightful presentations and reports for executive and leadership meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years of project management, resource management, or operations experience, ideally in professional services, internal audit, risk management, or consulting environments.
- Highly motivated self-starter who can provide strategic thought leadership and lead projects with limited guidance, ideally with global experience as well as a high degree of cultural awareness.
- Strong communicator with a composed and confident presence who can effectively influence and prioritize as business needs evolve; excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong project management, organization and planning skills and the ability to apply them in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment.
- Ability to break-down complex problems and leverage data analytics to drive outcomes.
- Ability to drive results in a complex, matrixed environment, and lead through persuasion and expertise with limited direct authority.
- Strong sense of integrity with ability to handle sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality.
- Passion for being a part of a diverse, global team operating in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
- University degree or equivalent required; MBA or other master's degree preferred.
- Experience with data analytics, data visualization, key risk indicators (KRIs), key performance indicators (KPIs), information systems / technology, and scorecards / dashboards, etc.
- Experience in project management and dealing with senior management
