The ANM / GNM Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care to patients, assisting in treatment and procedures, and supporting healthcare delivery at the facility or in the community. The role requires compassion, skill, and a commitment to patient well-being.
Key Responsibilities:Clinical Care:
- Provide basic nursing care including wound dressing, administering injections, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with personal hygiene.
- Administer medications and treatments as per the physician's instructions.
- Monitor patients' conditions and report any changes to the supervisor or doctor.
- Assist in pre- and post-operative care.
- Support delivery and maternal care (especially for ANM nurses).
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of patient surroundings.
Patient Support & Education:
- Educate patients and their families on health, hygiene, and nutrition.
- Counsel patients on medication adherence and post-discharge care.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
Administrative & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and charts.
- Prepare daily reports and handovers during shift changes.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of medicines and consumables.
- Ensure proper documentation for procedures and medication administration.
Community Health (for ANM Nurses):
- Participate in immunization drives, health camps, and awareness programs.
- Conduct home visits for antenatal/postnatal care and follow-up of chronic cases.
- Report and manage communicable disease outbreaks as per protocol.
Qualifications:
- ANM Nurse: Certificate in Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery from a recognized institute.
- GNM Nurse: Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery from a recognized nursing school.
- Must be registered with the State Nursing Council.
- [1–2] years of experience preferred (freshers may be considered based on facility needs).
