The HVAC Design Engineer is responsible for the design, planning, and development of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. The role involves performing heat load calculations, equipment selection, duct and piping design, and preparation of technical drawings and documentation in compliance with standards, codes, and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform cooling and heating load calculations using industry-standard software (e.g., HAP, Carrier, Trace 700).
  • Design and size ducting, piping, and equipment layouts for HVAC systems.
  • Prepare HVAC system drawings, schematics, and detailed design documentation using AutoCAD or Revit.
  • Select appropriate HVAC equipment (AHUs, FCUs, chillers, VRF/VRV systems, exhaust fans, etc.) based on project requirements.
  • Coordinate with architectural, structural, and electrical teams to ensure proper system integration.
  • Review and interpret project specifications, design criteria, and applicable standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISHRAE, etc.).
  • Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ), technical datasheets, and material submittals.
  • Support the project team during installation, testing, and commissioning phases with design clarifications and modifications.
  • Conduct site visits for verification, inspections, and resolving design-related issues.
  • Ensure all designs comply with local codes, safety regulations, and energy efficiency guidelines.
