Project Manager - IT

Location
: Mumbai

Duration: Contractual / Project-based (initially 1 year, extendable)

Role Objective:

The Project Manager will be responsible for overall planning, execution, monitoring, and delivery of the Maharashtra Government IT project. The role requires close coordination with the Government Department, Developer Team ,vendors, and multiple stakeholders to ensure timely and quality implementation as per guidelines.

Role Description :

This is a full-time role for an Information Technology Project Manager, located in Mumbai. The Information Technology Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing IT projects from inception to completion. Daily tasks include project planning, coordinating with different departments, managing project timelines and budgets, ensuring projects meet quality standards, and communicating project progress to stakeholders. The role requires strong program management and analytical skills to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Project Planning & Execution


• Prepare detailed project plans, timelines, and work breakdown structures.


• Define deliverables, milestones, and performance indicators.


• Coordinate with government stakeholders, implementing agencies, and technology partners.

  1. Stakeholder Management


• Serve as the single point of contact between the department and developer team and vendors.


• Conduct regular review meetings with government officials and other agencies.


• Ensure timely communication and escalation management.

  1. Monitoring & Reporting


• Track progress against defined timelines and KPIs.


• Prepare status reports, presentations, and dashboards for senior officials.


• Ensure compliance with MeitY guidelines, Maharashtra State IT Policy, and security standards.

  1. Risk & Issue Management


• Identify potential risks and prepare mitigation strategies.


• Handle project-related issues, dependencies, and change requests.

  1. Financial & Contract Management


• Monitor project budget, payments, and cost optimization.


• Ensure vendors/agencies adhere to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

  1. Team Leadership


• Manage cross-functional project teams and technical resources.


• Provide guidance, mentoring, and conflict resolution.

Qualifications & Experience


• Education:


• B.E./B.Tech / BCA in Computer Science/IT/Electronics or MCA/M.Sc. (IT/CS).


• PMP/PRINCE2/Agile certification preferred.


• Experience:


• Minimum 6 –12 years of IT project management experience, with at least 5 years in e-Governance / Government sector projects.


• Proven track record of handling large-scale IT system integration / e-Governance projects.


• Experience in vendor management, SLA monitoring, and contract administration.

Key Skills


• Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, software development lifecycle (SDLC), cloud technologies


• Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills.


• Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making ability.


• Familiarity with Government of India and Maharashtra IT procurement guidelines.


• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple stakeholders.
