Skills and Competencies
- A strong background in the Structured Finance field (CLO, RMBS, CMBS, or ABS) is required to understand the fundamental structures of these securities; experience with the MBS asset class is highly preferred.
- Strong quantitative and problem-solving abilities are essential for developing complex cash flow models and analyzing new securitization products.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary for collaborating with global teams and supporting client inquiries.
- Experience with data tools and scripting/programming languages such as SQL, Python, VBA, C#, or JavaScript is highly desirable for enhancing data models and processes.
- Keen attention to detail is crucial for delivering accurate outputs and maintaining data quality within stipulated timeframes.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential for success in this role.
Education
- A Master's degree in Finance, Engineering, Statistics, Math, or a related quantitative field is required.
- Requires approximately 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in the securitization field.
Responsibilities
This role develops, updates, and maintains complex cash flow models for Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS) within our proprietary structured finance library.
- Develop complex cash flow projection models for US securitization transactions using our proprietary software to increase our content coverage.
- Update data and maintain the quality of existing cash flow models and data models on a monthly basis.
- Collaborate with financial engineers, data teams, vendors, and developers across multiple global locations to improve our content and business processes.
- Work closely with client support teams to resolve client challenges and with asset class desks to analyze new market products.
- Participate in projects aimed at enhancing the quality and productivity of our modeling tools and processes.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of modeling tools by working with developers to address bugs and implement new features.
About the team
Our MBS Cash Flow Modelling team, part of the structured finance content production group, is responsible for developing and maintaining the sophisticated cash flow models that power our analytics. We contribute to Moody's by expanding the coverage of our proprietary model library, ensuring the accuracy and quality of our data, and providing critical support for client needs.
