High School Biology Teacher

Job Overview:

Narayana Group is seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Biology Teacher to join our dynamic Science Department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biology, a commitment to fostering student learning, and the ability to engage students in both theoretical and practical aspects of the subject. The teacher will be responsible for creating a supportive, inclusive, and inspiring classroom environment that encourages scientific inquiry and critical thinking.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Lesson Planning and Preparation:

2. Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging biology lessons.

3. Use a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, discussions, experiments, demonstrations, and multimedia resources, to enhance student understanding and engagement.

4. Prepare laboratory experiments and activities that support lesson objectives, ensuring safety and proper materials are provided.

5. Curriculum Development:

6. Develop and adapt lesson plans and teaching materials to cater to diverse learning needs and abilities.

7. Collaborate with colleagues to continuously improve curriculum delivery.

8. Assessment and Grading:

9. Evaluate student progress through formal and informal assessments such as quizzes, tests, projects, and lab work.

10. Provide constructive feedback to students and maintain accurate records of their academic performance.

11. Classroom Management:

12. Maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment that fosters learning, encourages student participation, and promotes responsible behaviour.

13. Manage student behaviour and enforce school policies to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.

14. Laboratory Supervision:

15. Oversee laboratory experiments and ensure a safe, organized lab environment.

16. Teach students how to safely handle equipment, chemicals, and biological specimens.

17. Collaboration:

18. Work closely with colleagues in the science department to plan interdisciplinary lessons and share best practices.

19. Participate in school meetings, professional development sessions, and parent-teacher conferences.

20. Differentiation:

21. Provide additional support for students with varying academic abilities, including those with learning difficulties and advanced learners, ensuring all students have the opportunity to succeed.

22. Extracurricular Engagement:

23. Support school-wide initiatives, including science fairs, clubs, and other events related to biology and science education.

24. Professional Development:

25. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and stay updated on the latest advancements in biology and educational strategies.

Job Qualifications:

1. Education:

2. A Bachelors degree in Biology, Education, or related field/ Masters degree in Biology or Education is often preferred

3. Prior experience teaching biology at the high school level is preferred.

4. Certification:

5. Valid teaching certification for secondary education in biology or a related science subject.

6. Experience:

7. A proven track record of excellence in teaching high school biology, with the ability to engage students in both theoretical and practical aspects of the subject. Experience using modern technology and educational tools to enhance learning is highly desirable.

8. Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents.

Working Conditions:

1. Standard school hours, with some flexibility for after-school meetings or activities.
2. Occasional travel may be required for professional development or field trips.
3. Ability to perform physical tasks, such as conducting laboratory experiments, setting up equipment, and moving supplies.

Reporting Authority:

• The High School Biology Teacher reports to the Principal or Academic Dean for daily instructional duties, performance evaluations, and other related responsibilities.
