Role & responsibilities

  • Inventory Management:

  • Maintain accurate records of surgical instruments, consumables, and sterile supplies.

  • Monitor stock levels and initiate procurement when necessary.

  • Ensure FIFO (First In, First Out) method is followed for expiry-sensitive items.

  • Receiving & Issuing Materials:

  • Receive materials from central stores or vendors.

  • Verify quantity and quality against purchase orders.

  • Issue materials to OT staff as per surgical schedules.

  • Sterilization Coordination:

  • Ensure all reusable instruments are sent for sterilization.

  • Track sterilization cycles and maintain logs.

  • Store sterile items in a contamination-free environment.

  • Documentation & Record-Keeping:

  • Maintain logs of incoming and outgoing materials.

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports for audits.

  • Assist in maintaining compliance with hospital protocols and accreditation standards.

  • Support During Surgeries:

  • Ensure timely availability of required instruments and consumables.

  • Coordinate with OT nurses and surgeons for special material needs.

  • Safety & Hygiene Compliance:

  • Follow infection control protocols.

  • Ensure proper disposal of expired or damaged items.
