To ensure that fabrication and cabin suppliers consistently deliver parts, assemblies, and weldments that meet company quality, cost, and delivery requirements. The SQA Engineer will develop supplier quality systems, conduct audits, manage non-conformances, and drive continuous improvement in supplier processes for fabricated structures, sheet metal, and cabin assemblies.

2. Key Responsibilities

Supplier Quality Management

  • Evaluate and approve new suppliers for fabrication and cabin components (sheet metal, welded structures, enclosures, sub-assemblies).
  • Conduct supplier process audits (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, welding standards such as ISO 3834/ASME).
  • Monitor and improve supplier performance using KPIs PPM, OTD, and CAR closure.
  • Develop and implement Supplier Quality Improvement Plans (SQIP) for low-performing suppliers.

Incoming Quality & Non-Conformance Management

  • Support Incoming Quality Control (IQC) with inspection standards, sampling plans, and control methods for fabricated items.
  • Investigate and resolve supplier-related non-conformances (NCRs, SCARs).
  • Coordinate 8D / Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and verify effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Work closely with production and design teams to contain and prevent recurrence of supplier defects.

Technical & Process Assurance

  • Review and approve PPAP / FAIR / ISIR submissions for new or modified fabricated parts.
  • Validate welding, painting, assembly, and dimensional inspection processes at supplier sites.
  • Ensure drawing interpretation, GD&T compliance, and weld quality meet engineering standards.
  • Participate in supplier First Article Inspections (FAI) and process validations.

Supplier Development & Continuous Improvement

  • Train suppliers on quality tools APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC.
  • Drive process improvements to reduce variation and enhance repeatability.
  • Collaborate with engineering and sourcing to qualify alternate suppliers or localization efforts.

3. Qualifications & Experience

RequirementDescriptionEducationBachelors Degree in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering (or equivalent).

Experience3–8 years in Supplier Quality / Fabrication Quality Assurance (preferably in automotive, off-highway, or heavy equipment sectors).

Technical SkillsKnowledge of fabrication processes (cutting, bending, welding, painting, assembly). Understanding of GD&T, APQP, PPAP, and ISO 9001 systems.
