Our client is a leading conglomerate with manufacturing facilities spread across the country. They have a leadership status in most of their business verticals. For their world class manufacturing facility in Gujrat, they are in the need of a senior professional to head their Industrial Relations (IR) function. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining a harmonious industrial environment, handling all the Government relations, local bodies, unions and worker relations, and ensuring compliance with labour laws and wage negotiations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Industrial Relations ensuring proactive engagement with unions and workforce.
  • Wage negotiations, and long-term settlements with trade unions in alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Establish and maintain positive relations with labour and factory officials, and local government authorities for smooth operations and statutory compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable labour laws, including the Industrial Disputes Act, Factories Act, and other relevant legislations.
  • Manage disciplinary procedures, grievance redressal, and conflict resolution through fair and transparent processes.
  • Partner with HR, Legal, and Plant Leadership to implement robust employee engagement and communication frameworks.
  • Drive compliance audits, contractor management, and regular liaison with government officials to ensure zero non-compliance.
  • Build IR capability within the HR team and ensure a culture of trust, dialogue, and collaboration across all levels of the organization.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Experience: 18-25 years of strong IR/ER experience in a large manufacturing setup with unionized workforce.
  • Proven track record in union handling, collective bargaining, and long-term settlements.
  • Excellent liaisoning skills with labour departments, government agencies, and local authorities.
  • In-depth knowledge of labour laws, compliance frameworks, and industrial dispute management.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with a balanced approach to people and business needs.
  • Preferably from Engineering / Automobile / Pharma / Chemical / Process Manufacturing industry.
  • Qualification: MBA/PGD in HR or MSW, with LLB as an added advantage.
