We seek a highly experienced Senior Snowflake Consultant specializing in SAP Business Warehouse (BW) migration to the Snowflake Cloud Data Platform. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in both SAP BW and Snowflake technologies, with a proven track record of successful large-scale migration projects.

Core Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Assessment and Planning:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of existing SAP BW environments, including InfoCubes, DSOs, and MultiProviders

  • Formulate robust migration strategies, addressing complexities such as historical data handling and real-time data integration

  • Develop detailed project plans encompassing data migration, ETL/ELT processes, and reporting transitions

2. Architecture Design and Implementation:

  • Design scalable Snowflake architectures leveraging multi-cluster shared data architecture

  • Implement Snowflake's column-based, micro-partition storage for optimal query performance

  • Utilize Snowflake's Time Travel and Zero-Copy Cloning for data recovery and environment provisioning

3. Migration Execution and Optimization:

  • Lead the migration of complex SAP BW data structures to Snowflake, including handling of SIDs and text tables

  • Convert SAP BW queries, including BEx queries and ABAP-based extractors, to Snowflake SQL

  • Implement Snowpipe for continuous, serverless data ingestion from SAP systems

  • Optimize query performance using Snowflake's automatic clustering and materialized views

4. Data Integration and Transformation:

  • Design and implement ELT processes using Snowflake's COPY command and external stages

  • Leverage Snowflake Scripting and Stored Procedures for complex transformations

  • Implement data masking and dynamic data masking for sensitive information

  • Utilize Snowflake Tasks and Streams for incremental data loading and change data capture

5. Security and Governance:

  • Implement row-level and column-level security policies in Snowflake

  • Set up secure data sharing using Snowflake Data Sharing

  • Configure network policies and IP whitelisting for secure access

  • Implement SCIM for user provisioning and SSO integration

6. Reporting and Analytics Integration:

  • Integrate Snowflake with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or SAP Analytics Cloud

  • Implement semantic layers using Snowflake's support for dbt or LookML

  • Design and implement Snowflake external functions for advanced analytics capabilities

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical field

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with SAP BW, including BW on HANA and BW/4HANA

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Snowflake, including enterprise-scale implementations

  • Expert-level SQL skills, including complex joins, window functions, and query optimization techniques

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and data integration patterns

  • Familiarity with Python or Scala for data processing and automation

Optional Credentials:

  • Snowflake SnowPro Core and Advanced: Data Engineer Certification

  • SAP BW Certification
