Position title: Assistant Manager

In Global Mobility Services ("GMS")

(Tax & Social security advisory & compliances for Expatriate and Indian employees)

Location

Mumbai

Liaises with (Internally):

Colleagues in (i) the same service line; (ii) other service lines

Colleagues in Grant Thornton offices – within India and overseas

Liaises with (Externally):

Authorities in Income Tax Department, Clients (Existing & Proposed), occasionally with Provident Fund Department

Primary purpose of the role:

  • Assisting in growing GMS practice in Mumbai
  • team management
  • Responsible to support Manager/Associate Director in managing assigned clients and ensuring seamless delivery of agreed services. Also, assistant manager would be responsible for ensuring Legal and Risk Management of clients and timely billing to clients.
  • Supporting firm in preparing proposals and cross-sell opportunities
  • Conduct tax briefings with the expatriates to apprise them of tax and social security implications on account of their international assignment
  • Responsible for tax withholding computations and compliances for companies and its expatriates
  • Responsible for calculations and compliances of social security contributions
  • Preparation and filing tax returns of expatriates, HNIs and Ultra HNIs.
  • Assist in income-tax, labour law, immigration, FEMA and other regulatory advisory.
  • end-to-end project management which may include preparation of Tax computations and assisting in Documentation / Compliance/ Assessments/ Advisory work for employee / Expatriate tax & Social Security, FEMA, New Labour codes etc.

Major responsibilities & deliverables:

  • Key role in growing GMS practice in Mumbai with a specific target
  • Assist in pitches like preparing proposals, respond to Request for Proposals etc.
  • Client management
  • Team management
  • Management of project time cost
  • Handling end-to-end individual tax compliances for expatriates (inbound and outbound) like preparation of tax computations, quarterly withholding tax returns, withholding tax certificate, India Income Tax return etc.
  • Assisting clients in obtaining in tax registrations, Form-30C, Form-30A, Certificate of Coverage
  • Prepare/review updates based on reviews of tax case laws, CBDT Circulars & notifications, updates from EPFO, etc
  • Developing position papers related to taxation of individuals
  • Delivering new labour codes related assignments

Skills Required:

  • Chartered Accountant with 3+ years' Experience in Global Mobility with the Big 4 or Mobility Firm. Knowledge of Labour Law, Social Security law and Immigration would be added advantage.
  • Strong Tax Technical Skills including taxation of individuals with a focus on taxation of employment income
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, verbal/written communication, inter-personal skills
