The environmental compliance engineering team is seeking a seasoned environmental professional to manage product compliance assessment throughout supply chain. This individual will help develop environmental management processes for suppliers and manufacturing partners, and perform on-site assessments of environmental compliance of suppliers and manufacturing partners, lead on investigations and drive corrective actions when compliance issues are found, work closely with Environmental program manager to launch hardware products under development. These activities will require substantial travel, primarily in India, but throughout southeast Asia and occasionally to China. Travel can be expected approximately 50% of the year. At times, travel may be required with little prior notice.

This position is offered in Apple's Environmental Technologies group within Apple's Hardware Engineering division. Our mission is to deliver world-leading programs to address the impacts of climate change, conserve resources, and utilize safer materials in our products.

Responsibilities

  • As Environmental Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for driving iPhone product compliance to Env. regulations.
  • Bring up new supplier/FATP in India, deliver training to supplier engineers and ensure environmental compliance readiness on new product launch.
  • Manage supply chain to execute Apple's environmental initiatives including compliance declaration,IQC/OQC test, ongoing compliance test.
  • Lead on product compliance issue investigation, failure analysis, verification and corrective action plan to support engineering build.
  • Conduct audit to make sure operational excellence, including Env. Quality system development, traceability maintenance, data analysis and discrepancy interpretation, drive supplier continuous improvement activity.
    Track and collect data to fulfill project requirement or product compliance certification, work with external auditor for manufacturing process audit.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor degrees in Chemistry, Material Science , Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years working experience in product environmental compliance with regulations, manufacturer process audit.
  • Excellent English verbal communication and writing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of environmental standards and regulations, including RoHS, REACH, CA Prop 65, EPEAT, IEC:62321 and the test methods.
  • Experience on product environmental compliance audit, failure analysis, root cause investigation and corrective actions.
  • Knowledge and/or experience on electronic product assemble processes for electronically devices and environmental compliance quality control.
  • Thrives in environment where attention to details is required.
    Experience on material compliance development is a great plus.
