Job DescriptionResponsibilities:Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure data architecture to support the underwriting module's operational and analytical needs.Design, maintain, and optimize logical, physical, and conceptual data models that reflect the business rules of the underwriting domain.Define data models, data integration patterns, and ETL/ELT workflows across transactional , Python-based) and analytical systems.Collaborate with business analysts, product managers, and backend engineers to understand data requirements and ensure models reflect underwriting logic.Develop and maintain logical and physical data models across OLTP and OLAP environments.Implement governance, metadata management, data lineage, and ensure compliance with data security standards.Provide architecture guidance on data access layers for APIs and downstream systems (e.g., dashboards, AI/ML pipelines).Evaluate and recommend tools, frameworks, and cloud services (preferably Azure) to meet performance and scalability goals.Conduct data quality audits and design exception handling for underwriting workflows.Support database performance optimization and indexing strategies for transactional and analytical workloads.Translate underwriting requirements (e.g., risk profiling, eligibility rules, customer data, policy rules) into normalized and scalable schemas.Good to Have:Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.Insurance domain knowledge with understanding of underwriting workflows, scoring models, and audit requirements.Experience with data cataloguing and governance Knowledge of data privacy regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, and their architectural implications.Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer
QualificationsBachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.8+ years of experience in data architecture, preferably in insurance or financial services domains.Strong experience with Python for data engineering and scripting.Deep expertise in SQL, NoSQL, and distributed data storage systems (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cosmos DB).Proficient in designing ETL pipelines using Airflow, Azure Data Factory, or similar tools.Experience in building event-driven data pipelines using Kafka or similar messaging systems.Knowledge of API-based data consumption and integration with microservices ).Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred – Data Lake, Synapse, Blob, ADLS).Excellent analytical skills for evaluating existing data systems and proposing optimized solutions.
