Team description:

Perform SOX-style testing over internal controls for Digital and Technology (D&T), aligning with the UK Corporate Governance Code and COSO principles. Partner with control owners to assess design and operating effectiveness, remediate gaps, and support management reporting.

Description of role and key responsibilities:

  • Execute the controls testing plan, e.g. scoping, sampling, testing and reporting.
  • Perform walkthroughs, design assessments, and operating effectiveness testing across ITGCs (e.g. access and change) and key D&T processes as required.
  • Document test work to a high audit standard (clear test objectives, evidence, results, and conclusions).
  • Evaluate deficiencies, agree remediation (log in the GRC tool) and track to closure. Escalate significant issues promptly.
  • Prepare concise reporting packs for senior management.
  • Advise control owners on remediation and control optimisation where required
  • Coordinate with Internal Audit, external auditors, and risk/compliance teams to avoid duplication and ensure coverage.
  • Use data analytics and automation to enhance testing

Core skills and knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of ITGCs.
  • Experience using GRC tooling and data tools (e.g. excel)
  • 4+ years in D&T-related controls testing (e.g. SOX, audit, or risk assurance) - financial services experience preferred
  • Excellent written communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Professional certification desirable (e.g CISA)
