Database Engineer

Position Title: Database EngineerReporting To: SeniorSoftware ArchitectLocation: Bangalore JobDescriptionThe DatabaseEngineer will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing thedatabase systems and will contribute to the efficient storage, retrieval, andmanipulation of data to support our applications and business processes. TheDatabase Engineer will work closely with cross -functional teams to ensure dataintegrity, performance, and availability. RequirementsQualifications  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, InformationTechnology, or a related field. 2 -3 years of hands -on experience as a DatabaseEngineer or similar role. Proficiency in database design principles, SQL, andrelational database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQLServer).  Experience with database performance tuning andoptimization techniques. Working knowledge of Python, Django, PostgreSQL and ReactJS. -    Any certifications related to database management(e.g., Oracle Certified Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure DatabaseAdministrator) would be a plus. KeyResponsibilities  Collaborate with software developers and businessanalysts to understand data requirements and translate them into effectivedatabase solutions. Design and implement database schemas, tables,indexes, and relationships that optimize data storage and access patterns. Ensure database design meets performance, scalability,and security requirements. Write efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, andfunctions for data manipulation and retrieval. Develop and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load)processes for data integration from various sources. Participate in the development of data migrationstrategies when necessary. Monitor and analyze database performance using toolsand techniques to identify and resolve bottlenecks. Optimize query execution plans and suggest indeximprovements for better performance. Implement and maintain security measures to safeguardsensitive data. Ensure compliance with relevant data protectionregulations and industry standards. Plan and implement database backup and recoverystrategies to minimize data loss and downtime. Conduct regular data backups and perform test restoresto validate recovery procedures. Monitor database health and proactively address issuesto ensure high availability and uptime. Apply patches and updates to database software to keepsystems current and secure.  Technical Skillsand Competencies   Knowledgeof cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) - Familiaritywith ETL processes and data integration. - Knowledgeof data security and compliance practices. - Work closelywith cross -functional teams to understand data needs and provide technicalexpertise. - Documentdatabase design, configurations, and procedures for knowledge sharing. - Investigateand troubleshoot database -related issues, identify root causes, and implementsolutions. - ExcellentMS Office Skills. PersonalCompetencies  Experience working across organizational boundaries ona local and global basis.
