Senior DevOps Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage Kubernetes-based architectures on cloud platforms, with a focus on emulating on-premises environments.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes, integrating DevSecOps security scans (shift-left security).
• Collaborate with development teams to build Docker images and replicate production-like environments, ensuring seamless transitions from development to staging.
• Configure and optimize Ansible or Kubespray for automated infrastructure deployment and management.
• Lead the setup and administration of cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS), including account management and ownership transitions, while adhering to regulatory compliance standards (e.g., SEBI Cloud Adoption Framework).
• Perform security scans on source code and artifacts, generating detailed reports to enhance application security.
• Establish and maintain near real-time communication channels with external development teams to coordinate environment variables, database dumps, and build configurations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges, adapting to evolving project needs and tight timelines.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to strategic planning to accelerate time-to-market.

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong hands-on with Kubespray (or similar) for bare metal cluster deployment, upgrades, and full lifecycle management.
• Deep Ansible expertise for automation and repeatable infra management.
• Expertise with automation and provisioning of virtual machines, especially on RHEL-based platforms like oVirt, RHV, OpenStack.
• Experience working in air-gapped/offline environments.
• Proficient with VictoriaMetrics/Prometheus (metrics) and Victorialogs/Loki (logs).
• Familiar with OpenTelemetry instrumentation and distributed tracing.
• Hands-on with tracing backends like Jaeger, Grafana Tempo, Zipkin.
• Able to integrate metrics, logs, and traces in Grafana for full observability.
• Solid with Terraform, GitLab CI, Helm.
• Skilled in Python/Shell scripting for automation.
• Good knowledge of Git, branching strategies, and collaborative workflows.
• Strong understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles.
• Experience implementing GitOps workflows (e.g., Flux, ArgoCD).
• Experience deploying and operating Java applications in Kubernetes.
• Familiar with Java build tools (Maven, Gradle).
• Able to instrument Java apps with OpenTelemetry agents for metrics/logs/traces.
• Ability to work with MySQL queries for operational tasks and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of Liquibase migrations and integration into CI/CD pipelines.
• Competence in RHEL9 basics: dnf, SELinux, systemd, kernel/network tuning.
• Knowledge of patching & lifecycle management for RHEL clusters.
• Actively uses AI-assisted coding tools (CursorAI, Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, etc.).
• Leverages AI for infra-as-code, automation, and debugging.

Soft Skills

• Strong documentation & DR planning mindset.
• Effective collaboration with dev + ops teams.
• Proactive in troubleshooting, scaling, and process improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Certifications in AWS, Kubernetes, or DevOps (e.g., CKAD, CKA, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) are highly desirable.
