Position Overview

Team Leader/ Trainer Taxation supporting retail investors in German and European capital markets with tax-related queries and regulatory compliance matters for securities transactions.

1. Mandatory Experience Requirements

Domain Experience (Minimum 2-3 years)

  • Capital Markets Customer Support: Direct experience handling customer queries related to:

Equity transactions (Stocks and ETFs)

Derivatives (options, futures, warrants)

Cryptocurrency transactions

Fixed income

Corporate actions

  • German Tax Framework Knowledge: Demonstrable experience with:

Kapitalertragsteuer (Capital gains tax % flat tax)

Withholding Tax on Dividends and double taxation treaties

Freistellungsauftrag (Tax exemption orders)

Verlustverrechnungstpfe (Loss Pots offsetting)

Jahressteuerbescheinigung (Annual tax certificates)

  • International Tax Framework Knowledge: Demonstrable experience with:

Taxation rules for other European countries: Spain, Italy, France, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, Poland, Netherlands

Taxation of Stocks, ETFs, Bonds and Derivatives

Taxation of Interest, Dividends, and Coupon Payments

Withholding Tax on Dividends and double taxation treaties

Loss Pots and Loss Offsetting

Annual Tax Reporting

2. Technical Competencies

Tax Calculation & Reporting

  • Experience calculating tax implications for:

FIFO/average cost basis methods

Realized vs unrealized gains

Dividend taxation (including foreign dividends)

Corporate action tax impacts (splits, mergers, spin-offs)

Multi-currency transaction tax calculations

Data & Reconciliation Skills

  • Proven track record in:

Transaction reconciliation between tax and backoffice systems

Tax statement validation, identifying discrepancies between ledgers and tax reports

Cost basis adjustments and transactions reprocessing

Working with large datasets

3. Required Skills & Qualifications

Numerical Proficiency

  • Advanced Excel skills, complex formulas
  • Experience with financial calculations and percentage computations
  • Ability to assess data patterns, detect inconsistencies, and find solutions
  • Comfort with decimal precision and rounding rules

Language Requirements

  • English: Fluent (C1 level minimum)
  • Clear Communication: ability to explain numbers, processes, and results to non-technical audiences

Systems Experience

  • Tax reporting software exposure
  • CRM systems for case management

4. Specific Industry Background (Preferred)

Ideal Candidates Will Have Worked For:

  • Online brokers operating in Germany
  • Big 4 tax advisory firms
  • BPO/Shared service centers serving European financial institutions
  • German tax software companies

  • Checking tax calculations for specific transactions
  • Validating tax certificates and supporting year-end tax reporting processes
  • Processing tax reclaims and adjustments
  • Handling escalations related to regulatory reporting
