Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Composites Design and Analysis Engineer to join our team focused on the development of advanced materials for aerospace and defense systems. The ideal candidate should have a robust technical background in composite materials and a passion for innovation in aerospace applications.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design and Development:

2. Design composite components and structures for various aerospace and defense applications.

3. Utilize CAD software to create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of composite parts.

4. Analysis:

5. Conduct structural analysis using finite element analysis (FEA) tools and other analytical methods to evaluate composite material performance under various loading conditions.

6. Assess material properties, including mechanical, thermal, and fatigue characteristics of composite materials.

7. Material Selection:

8. Collaborate with material scientists to select appropriate composite materials based on project requirements and specifications.

9. Conduct tests and evaluations for new composite materials to enhance performance and reliability.

10. Testing and Validation:

11. Develop and implement testing protocols to validate composite designs and ensure compliance with industry standards.

12. Analyze test results and provide recommendations for design improvements based on findings.

13. Collaboration:

14. Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers from aerodynamics, systems, and manufacturing to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.

15. Communicate with customers and stakeholders to gather requirements and present design results.

16. Documentation:

17. Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation of design processes, analyses, and test results.

18. Support the creation of technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

19. Continuous Improvement:

20. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to composite materials in aerospace and defense.

21. Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality in composite design and analysis.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.

• Experience in composite materials design and analysis, ideally within the aerospace and defense industry.

• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) and FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus).

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on innovative solutions.

• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to aerospace composites (e.g., MIL-STD, AS9100).

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of manufacturing processes for composite materials, including resin transfer molding (RTM), pultrusion, and filament winding.

• Experience with software tools for composite material property prediction and modeling.

• Understanding of risk assessment and failure modes in composite structures.
