About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Architectural Designer to support the design and documentation of a large-scale development project in Auckland, valued at over $10 million.

This is a contract-based role offering flexible working hours. Some weeks may be quieter, while others may be full on depending on project milestones. You'll collaborate with the client's team and our consultants to plan and manage workloads as the project progresses.

The detailed design phase is expected to extend over 18 months or more, and you will play a key role in delivering building consent documentation and working drawings for a project of this scale and complexity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and coordinate detailed design and construction drawings.
  • Lead documentation for building consent and consultant coordination.
  • Ensure design accuracy, compliance with NZ Building Code, and constructability.
  • Liaise with engineers, consultants, and client representatives.
  • Support design reviews and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage workload flexibly according to project stages and deadlines.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Architecture or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience delivering NZ building consent documentation for large projects.
  • Proven experience in projects valued over $10 million.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD essential.
  • Strong understanding of NZ Building Code, council submission processes, and detailing.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Registered Architect or LBP preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with client teams.

Location: Auckland, New Zealand

Engagement: Contract-based, flexible hours

Work Arrangement: On-site or remote (work from home possible)

Duration: Ongoing; detailed design phase expected to span 18+ months

Remuneration: Market rate applies, based on experience and agreed hourly rate
