Job Overview

The Senior UI/UX Designer plays a crucial role in shaping Starweaver's digital experiences and maintaining our reputation for exceptional user-centered design. This role focuses on designing intuitive user interfaces for our educational platforms, custom Analytics tool, in-house LMS solution, and various digital products. The Senior UI/UX Designer will collaborate closely with Senior Product Manager to ensure seamless user experiences that align with our educational and technology objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. User Experience Design & Research

• Conduct user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing to understand learner and user needs across our educational platforms and technology solutions.
• Create user personas, journey maps, and user flow diagrams to guide design decisions and improve overall user experience.
• Analyze user feedback and behavioral data from our custom Analytics tool to identify areas for UX improvements.

2. Interface Design & Prototyping

• Design visually appealing and intuitive user interfaces for web and mobile applications, including our in-house LMS solution and Analytics platform.
• Create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes using industry-standard design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite).
• Develop and maintain design systems and style guides to ensure consistency across all Starweaver digital products.

3. Collaboration & Communication

• In our product-led environment, you will act as the dedicated design partner to our Senior Product Manager. You will be responsible for visually articulating the solutions to problems and requirements defined by the product team.
• Working in lockstep with the engineering team to ensure a seamless handoff, discuss technical constraints, and guarantee the final implementation is true to the product vision.
• Work closely with Instructional Designers to create engaging and accessible learning interfaces that enhance educational content delivery.
• Collaborate with Content Production & Engagement Managers to design user experiences that support effective course creation workflows.
• Partner with Marketing to create compelling and cohesive visual assets that drive engagement and effectively communicate our product's value across all channels.
• Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to cross-functional teams.

4. Quality Assurance & Standards Compliance

• Ensure all designs meet accessibility standards (ADA, WCAG) and follow best practices for inclusive design.
• Conduct design quality reviews and maintain adherence to Starweaver's brand guidelines and design standards.
• Test and validate design solutions across multiple devices and browsers to ensure responsive design implementation.

5. Key Areas of Impact & Ownership

• Journeybuilder (Personalized Learning): Craft the user experience for our AI-powered learning platform. You will design intuitive interfaces that visualize personalized educational paths and empower learners and L&D teams to achieve their skill-based goals.
• Boostr (Course Delivery): Refine and enhance the end-to-end user flow for our flagship course delivery platform, ensuring a seamless, accessible, and engaging experience.
• Starweaver Analytics (Data Intelligence): Transform complex data into actionable insights. You will design compelling data visualizations, dashboards, and reports that help instructors and strategic partners understand and improve content performance.
• Design Pilot (Content Creation): Streamline the content creation lifecycle to empower educators, instructional designers, and production teams to collaborate and build exceptional learning content with greater efficiency and ease.

6. Process Improvement & Documentation

• Maintain comprehensive design documentation, including design rationale, user flows, and component specifications.
• Contribute to design process improvements and recommend new tools or methodologies to enhance team efficiency.
• Support junior designers through mentorship and knowledge sharing of design best practices.

2. Maintain user satisfaction ratings of 4.5 or higher for designed interfaces across platforms.

3. Achieve usability test success rates of 85% or higher for new design implementations.

4. Project Delivery & Collaboration

5. Deliver design deliverables within 48 hours of project requirements being finalized.

6. Maintain a 95% on-time delivery rate for all design milestones.

7. Design System & Consistency

8. Ensure 100% adherence to design system guidelines across all new interface designs.

9. Contribute at least two design system enhancements annually to improve team efficiency.

10. Cross-functional Collaboration

11. Achieve an average satisfaction rating of 90% or higher from developers and product managers on design collaboration and handoff quality.

12. User Experience Impact

13. Contribute to maintaining 90% or higher completion rates for user workflows in designed interfaces.

14. Support accessibility compliance achieving 100% WCAG 2.1 AA standard adherence.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in UI/UX Design, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
• Relevant design certifications or continuing education in UX/UI design principles is a plus.

Experience

• 5 Plus years of core experience in UI/UX design with a focus on web and mobile applications.
• Proven experience designing for educational technology platforms or e-learning environments is highly desirable.
• Experience collaborating with development teams and understanding technical constraints and possibilities.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD).
• Having a deep understanding of technical constraints and can design feasible, scalable, and robust solutions that account for edge cases, empty states, and error handling.
• Familiarity with prototyping tools and user research methodologies.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.

• The ideal candidate must be a self-motivated individual who takes initiative and demonstrates the ability to independently drive and manage designs, user requirements from conception to completion.
• Familiarity in working in the early core teams of startups or building a startup from scratch.
• Strong communication skills are essential for effective collaboration, along with the mandatory ability to align and coordinate with various stakeholders across different organizational levels to achieve goals.
