An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Environmental Health Officer to work within a busy small team, which is responsible for delivering a range of enforcement functions and the improvement of domestic dwellings in the Borough.

The post will focus primarily on undertaking work to explore the feasibility of introducing selective licensing in the private rented sector and additional licensing of small Houses in Multiple Occupation. The post holder will also be involved in other duties including property condition inspections, licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation, empty properties, derelict buildings and land and statutory nuisance investigations. There may also be some requirement to work across other environmental health disciplines.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they possess the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies to undertake the requirements of their role. Ideally you will be able to demonstrate recent enforcement experience and knowledge of selective licensing.

Successful candidates will possess a relevant qualification in Environmental Health to degree standard or equivalent, be a registered Environmental Health Practitioner holding an EHRB certificate of registration or equivalent, or be working towards Chartered Status with preferably significant post qualification experience and relevant CPD.

The role will suit experienced officers however applications are also encouraged from graduate candidates. If accepted for a graduate role, you will be expected to learn quickly on the job. Support to achieve fully qualified and professional status will be provided as part of a career progression scheme. Your starting salary will be dependent upon your qualifications and prior experience.
