Job Description – Assistant Network Engineer

Position: Assistant Network Engineer

Location: IIMT College of Engineering, Greater Noida

Department: IT Cell

Reports To: Head IT

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in installation, configuration, and maintenance of network devices such as switches (Layer 2/3), routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Support in designing, configuring, and troubleshooting VLANs, PoE switches, and network segmentation.
  • Monitor and maintain LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and VPN connectivity for reliable network performance.
  • Provide technical support for firewall policies, access lists, and security configurations.
  • Perform network cabling, patch panel management, and structured cabling troubleshooting.
  • Assist in network security monitoring and support compliance with IT security standards.
  • Document network diagrams, configurations, and inventory for internal records.
  • Work closely with senior engineers to implement upgrades, migrations, and system integrations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Diploma / Bachelor's in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • o Firewalls (basic rule configuration & monitoring)
  • o Switches (Layer 2/3, VLAN, PoE)
  • o TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VPN, routing & switching protocols
  • Familiarity with Windows/Linux networking and Active Directory.
  • Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work under supervision and in team environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in CCNA / CompTIA Network+ / Firewall Security (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA).
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise switches, VLAN design, PoE devices, and firewall configuration.
  • Exposure to network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios, etc.).

Pay: ₹22, ₹25,000.00 per month
