Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer with 7-10 years of hands-on experience to join our dynamic IT team. The candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of the z/OS operating system and various Independent Software Vendor (ISV) products. This role requires deep technical expertise in mainframe technologies, performance tuning, problem diagnosis, and a commitment to maintaining the stability, security, and efficiency of our critical mainframe infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute, and verify z/OS upgrades (e.g., z/OS 2.x to 3.x).
  • Apply IBM PTFs/APARs and perform system IPLs for maintenance and upgrades.
  • Monitor system health and performance using RMF, SMF, Omegamon, etc.
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain ISV products (e.g., Broadcom/CA, BMC, IBM, Rocket Software) including security, performance monitoring, scheduling, storage management, databases, and utilities.
  • Collaborate with vendors for support, licensing, and issue resolution.
  • Provide 24/7 critical system support, problem diagnosis, and performance tuning.
  • Develop and maintain REXX, JCL, and other scripts for automation.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and ensure business continuity.
  • Document system configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Mentor junior systems programmers and work closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and regulations.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 7-10 years of hands-on experience as a Mainframe Systems Programmer.
  • Strong knowledge of z/OS installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Experience with z/OS upgrades and system performance tuning.
  • Proficient in JCL, TSO/ISPF, SMP/E, JES2/JES3.

  • Experience with ISV products:

  • Security: RACF, ACF2, Top Secret

  • Performance Monitoring: Omegamon, RMF, SMF
  • Scheduling: CA-7, TWS/OPC

  • Storage Management: SMS, DASD tools (CA-Disk, FDR/ABR)

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
