Role description

We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented FinOps Engineer to join our Cloud Operations team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in AWS cost management, reserved instance planning, and cloud financial optimization. This role is critical in driving cost efficiency, financial accountability, and visibility across our AWS environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and optimize AWS spend across services such as EC2, RDS, S3, and networking components.
  • Design and implement cost optimization strategies including Reserved Instances (RI), Savings Plans, and resource rightsizing.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, forecasts, and budget reports using tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, CloudHealth, and UST Cloud Manager.
  • Partner with engineering and operations teams to identify underutilized or idle resources and recommend cost-saving actions.
  • Automate cost tracking, reporting, and governance processes to enhance accuracy and reduce manual efforts.
  • Establish and enforce governance frameworks for tagging standards, resource ownership, and chargeback/showback models.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of cloud usage patterns and provide data-driven insights to business and technology stakeholders.
  • Support audits, compliance reviews, and financial reporting related to cloud spend.

Technical Skills & Experience

  • AWS Infrastructure Management: 5+ years of hands-on experience.
  • Cost Optimization: Proven success in identifying and delivering measurable cost savings.
  • Reserved Instances & Savings Plans: Strong planning and management expertise.
  • Cost Analysis & Reporting: Advanced analytical and visualization capabilities.
  • Tools: Proficiency with AWS Cost Explorer, CloudHealth, and Cloud Manager.
  • Automation: Experience using Python, Excel, or Power BI for financial automation and reporting.
  • Governance & Tagging: Strong understanding of policy enforcement and cost allocation strategies.
