Boeing India Engineering and Technology Centre is currently looking for Experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join their Manufacturing Engineering team in Chennai, India, you will be part of a global team working on providing ME solutions to a wide range of Boeing products and services across the world. These positions will focus on supporting the Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) business organization.
Position Responsibilities:
- Expert in working with complex aerospace design definitions employing GD&T standards. Should be able to relate the engineering tolerances to various methodologies and strategies of assembly and fabrication.
- Expertise in aerospace manufacturing processes, assembly process planning, plant layout, cell manufacturing and ergonomics. Competent to plan and lead a value stream mapping of existing manufacturing process and identify improvement actions. Experience with simulation and modelling is highly desirable.
- Able to guide peers/team on implementing aerospace standards, QMS, Safety and business processes.
- Able to critically review manufacturing process flow, build plans and suggest opportunities for improvement. Working knowledge on process simulation is desirable.
- Able to review work instructions and standard works implementation. Should be able to lead discussions with Shop side MEs to identify the potential bottlenecks and improve the process.
- Able to review design definitions from manufacturability and producibility point of view. Should be able to liaise with other teams to formulate action plan to mitigate the associated risks.
- Should have proven expertise in some of the aerospace manufacturing operations or special processes. Should be able to develop technical skills of the peers in the respective areas of expertise.
- Able to analyze complex problem statements reported from manufacturing, liaise with peers, on- shore MEs to objectively identify the root cause and implement solutions using structured problem solving tools.
- Proven expertise in implementation of lean tools in manufacturing and awareness of six sigma methodology.
- Able to analyze the cost implications of various manufacturing processes, change management etc. and execute cost benefit analysis.
- Able to identify and analyze potential risks, implement mitigation plan and manage risks to acceptable levels.
- Should be able to represent the team in forums alongside SMEs and technical leaders.
- Hands-on experience in drafting, The shop router, (traveler) that travels with the parts through the production processes.
- Router including but not limited to the following:
- Supplemental work instructions.
- The MBOM for the job.
- Supplier specific Process Specifications.
- Inspection plans, instructions or checklists.
- Machining related sketches, set-up sheets, index plans.
- Supplemental data recording media.
- Heat treat data collected from Tier 3 supplier.
- Supplier drawings for supplier-owned designs (SCD parts).
- Test Plans.
- Process Control Documents (PCD's).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- A Bachelor's engineering degree or higher is required as a BASIC QUALIFICATION.
- 8+ years of related work experience in the experience in Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering.
- 6+ years of experience in PLM (Teamcenter/ Enovia), CAD/CAM (NX/CATIA)/Simulation tools, Commodity knowledge on Structure, including Assembly, Material and Standard, Electrical, including assemblies and Harness.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Understanding of Boeing Specs, BAC, D-Documents, D1-4426 approval process,
- Nadcap accreditation Process
- Commodity knowledge on Interiors, Systems - Mech / Hyd, Including Complex Assemblies, Systems – Avionics, Lighting, Galleys.
Typical Education & Experience:
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's degree with 8+ Yrs or Master's with 7+ yrs of experience in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or Production Engineering.
