We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Pump Engineering LCA Support co-op to join our team. The ideal candidate will be an engineering student interested in experiencing an HVAC manufacturing work environment at the front lines and learning to conduct an LCA.

Real-world experience: Sustainability and carbon accounting is an important field in manufacturing, largely driven by the increasing regulatory demand for Environmental Product Declarations. Life Cycle Assessment is a powerful tool that allows manufacturers to communicate the environmental impact of a product. In this role, you will support the LCA Team. LCA professionals are poised to become strategic leaders in sustainability. This opportunity will also allow you to learn how to conduct LCA modeling with the LCA software openLCA.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the Sustainability Team and Pump Engineering Team so that they can respond to customer requests for embodied carbon data on our product offering. This information is communicated via a TM65 Form or a Type II Environmental Product Declaration.

Duties:

  • Enter item weight and item material information for pump parts into an Excel spreadsheet
  • Review source documents, such as an Autocad/SolidWorks file for part weight and part material information.
  • Check if the part is a single part or a group of parts. (Each part number in a group must be analyzed separately.)
  • Check if the item weight and item material listed match the item weight and item material used in the part file/part drawing
  • Identify duplicate data or incorrect data.
  • Request the missing information from Sourcing/Procurement/Commodity Managers
  • Weigh the part if the data cannot be located

Suggestions:

  • Generate SolidWorks Sustainability Reports for the new product development teams

What We're Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should bring an interest new product development, material science, manufacturing and Life Cycle Assessment.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Basic Excel skills
  • Familiarity with Autocad
  • Tolerance for repetitive tasks

Education:

  • BE Mechanical.
