Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Australian Payroll Expert to manage and oversee comprehensive payroll operations. The ideal candidate will have direct experience handling payroll for 700+ employees, with strong hands-on skills in Employment Hero, Xero, and automation tools. A thorough understanding of ATO regulations and Australian payroll compliance is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for over 700 Australian employees.
- Ensure compliance with all ATO regulations, including PAYG, STP, and superannuation.
- Process payroll using Employment Hero and Xero with accuracy and timeliness.
- Use automation tools to streamline payroll and reduce manual intervention.
- Maintain accurate employee records, including onboarding, timesheets, leave, and termination details.
- Coordinate with onshore teams for payroll inputs, approvals, and compliance updates.
- Train and support offshore teammates to ensure standardized payroll practices.
- Cross-verify employee timesheets with client-provided timesheet data to ensure billing and payroll accuracy.
- Stay updated with legislative changes and implement adjustments to maintain compliance.
- Handle payroll-related queries from employees and internal departments.
Key Requirements:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in Australian payroll processing.
- Proven track record managing payroll for 700+ staff.
- Strong working knowledge of Employment Hero, Xero, and automation tools.
- In-depth understanding of ATO rules child support deduction merchandise deduction, superannuation, STP and employment compliance.
- Excellent coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to train and mentor offshore team members.
- High attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Payroll, HR, or Accounting
- Prior experience in the logistics or transport services industry.
