About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Backup Administrator to manage, maintain, and support our data backup and recovery systems. The ideal candidate will ensure data integrity, availability, and reliability across all critical systems by implementing effective backup strategies, monitoring performance, and performing timely restores when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain backup and recovery infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Manage backup schedules, policies, and retention strategies to meet business continuity and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor backup jobs and logs daily to ensure successful completion and troubleshoot any failures.
  • Perform data restores and disaster recovery testing as needed.
  • Manage and optimize storage capacity for backup repositories.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection, retention, and security policies.
  • Work closely with system administrators, database administrators, and network teams to ensure complete data protection coverage.
  • Document backup configurations, procedures, and recovery plans.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to backup tools, processes, and automation.
  • Participate in disaster recovery (DR) planning and execution.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as a Backup Administrator, System Administrator, or similar role.

  • Strong hands-on experience with backup and recovery software such as:

  • Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, Commvault, IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM), Acronis, Dell EMC Networker, Rubrik, Cohesity, or similar.

  • Familiarity with cloud-based backup solutions (AWS Backup, Azure Backup, Google Cloud Backup, etc.).

  • Solid understanding of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, tape libraries, deduplication appliances).
  • Knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Experience with scripting/automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for backup management.
  • Good understanding of RPO/RTO objectives and disaster recovery principles.
  • Proficiency with monitoring tools and log analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data encryption, replication, and snapshot technologies.

  • Certifications such as:

  • Veritas Certified Specialist (VCS), Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE), Commvault Certified Professional (CCP), AWS/Azure certifications.

  • Experience in large-scale enterprise environments.

  • Familiarity with ITIL or similar service management frameworks
