Backup Administrator (NetBackup | CommVault)

Backup Administrator (L3 – NetBackup)

Mandatory Technical Roles & Responsibilities

Core NetBackup (L3 Level)

  • L3-level
    installation, configuration, and administration
    of Veritas NetBackup.
  • Perform regular system maintenance including
    incident resolution, change implementation, patch management
    , and performance/security troubleshooting.
  • Troubleshoot complex backup failures
    and coordinate recovery actions.
  • Experience with
    Deployment Policies
    including:
  • NetBackup
    client deployment
  • Client upgrades via Deployment Policies
  • Host Management, Host Inventory
  • Rolling upgrades and automated package distribution
  • Hands-on experience on
    Veritas Enterprise Vault
    and
    Dell EMC Data Domain
    appliances.
  • Configure and troubleshoot
    SAN Client (Fiber Transport)
    backups.
  • Strong understanding of
    SLP (Storage Lifecycle Policies)
    and
    Vault
    .
  • Upgrading and patching
    Master, Media, SAN Media servers and clients.
  • Integrating and troubleshooting backup/restore for
    Oracle, SQL, VMware, Replication Director
    workloads.
  • Backup & restoration for
    UNIX, Linux, and Windows
    hosts.
  • Backup/restore expertise for
    Oracle / SQL / ESX / NDMP
    .
  • Managing NetBackup
    Catalog
    and internal databases.
  • Good understanding of
    TCP/IP networking
    concepts.
  • Strong knowledge of
    SAN Infrastructure & Architecture
    , zoning, multipathing.
  • Ability to translate
    functional requirements
    into technical backup configurations.


Commvault (Preferred)

  • Knowledge of
    object storage
    (Centera / ATMO / SEC).
  • Good understanding of
    VMware IntelliSnap
    through Commvault.
  • Oracle backup/restore via Commvault agents.
  • Working knowledge of
    Commvault Hyperscale Appliances
    .
  • Understanding of
    Storage Policies
    ,
    Schedule Policies
    , and
    Data Aging
    concepts.
  • Experience with
    Commvault Reporting Server
    .


Reporting & Documentation

  • Hands-on experience with
    NetBackup OpsCenter
    and
    NetBackup IT Analytics
    .
  • Strong
    Excel/PPT
    reporting skills (dashboards, daily/weekly SLA reports).
  • Ability to
    configure, customize, and schedule reports
    in backup reporting tools.
  • Strong RCA documentation and problem-management capabilities.
