GaN Device Engineer
Our client is India's first Gallium Nitride (GaN for short) deep-tech semiconductor product company for radio-frequency electronics and power electronics. Their vertical technology integration – from making GaN wafers (materials), using their proprietary semiconductor manufacturing processes to realize GaN components and their design – enables them to develop solutions for compact, efficient and high-power solutions across the strategic, telecom and consumer use-cases.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and driven
Device Engineer
to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, characterization, and analysis of gallium nitride devices within our product portfolio. This role requires a strong understanding of device physics, process integration, and electrical characterization to support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop GaN transistors as well as eval-boards and reference circuits, including actively interfacing with processing, testing and reliability teams for device improvement and design of test plans
- Design and perform electrical characterization and various reliability tests on GaN transistors and eval boards including but not limited to MTTF estimation. This includes design of fixtures, jigs, circuits etc. for reliability testing as well as identifying cause of device failure and degradation.
- Collaborate with process engineers to optimize fabrication and integration processes.
- Develop device models and simulations to predict behavior under various operating conditions.
- Come up with test plans for various reliability and qualification processes for GaN devices, and lead their execution with the respective teams.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Master's degree in EE/ECE/E&I, Physics, or a related field. (Required)
- PhD (preferred) for Senior Device Engineer role.
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience with semiconductor device technology including device design, processing and characterization.
- A background in GaN device technology would be highly desirable.
- Simulation and/or modelling of devices is an added advantage.
- Hands-on experience with electrical test equipment (e.g., probe stations, power supplies, oscilloscopes, etc.) and PCB design and/or mounting are indispensable.
Skills:
- Solid understanding of device physics and semiconductor fundamentals.
- A good understanding of or hands-on experience in semiconductor device processing.
- Hands-on experience with electrical testing and PCB handling.
