Position Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator (DBA) with a strong background in database design, data architecture, and performance engineering. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in core DBA activities, with extensive knowledge of PostgreSQL in a cloud environment, particularly deploying Kubernetes containerized databases.

Key Responsibilities:

Database Design & Architecture:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement robust database architectures that meet business requirements.

Develop and maintain data models, schemas, and database structures to ensure optimal data management and accessibility.

Performance Engineering:

Monitor and analyze database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks to enhance overall system efficiency.

Implement performance tuning strategies, including indexing, query optimization, and partitioning.

DBA Activities:

Manage and maintain PostgreSQL databases in a cloud environment, ensuring high availability, reliability, and security.

Perform regular database backups, recovery, and disaster recovery planning to safeguard data integrity.

Develop and execute database migration plans and strategies as needed.

Containerization & Cloud Deployment:

Deploy and manage containerized PostgreSQL databases using Kubernetes, ensuring efficient orchestration and scaling.

Work with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) to optimize database solutions and leverage cloud-native features.

Documentation & Best Practices:

Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, procedures, and processes.

Establish and enforce database best practices, policies, and standards across the organization.

Collaboration & Support:

Collaborate with developers, data engineers, and other stakeholders to support application development and data-related initiatives.

Provide on-call support and troubleshooting for database-related incidents and performance issues.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Masters degree is a plus.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in database administration with a strong focus on PostgreSQL.

Extensive experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration tools, particularly Kubernetes.

Proficiency in database design, data modeling, performance tuning, and optimization techniques.

Strong knowledge of database security best practices and data governance.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with additional databases (e.g., MySQL, Oracle) is a plus.

Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and process improvement.

Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD methodologies related to database deployment.
