Job Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL and MySQL database servers. Perform regular database backups and recovery procedures. Monitor database performance and
  • proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks. Manage database user accounts and permissions.
  • Analyze database performance metrics and implement optimizations to improve query performance and overall system efficiency. Identify and troubleshoot slow-performing queries. Optimize database schema and indexes.
  • Strong experience in writing complex SQL queries for data retrieval, reporting, and data manipulation. Expertise in optimizing queries to handle large data sets efficiently and reduce execution times.
  • Implement and enforce database security policies and procedures. Manage database user access and permissions. Ensure data integrity and confidentiality. Stay up-to-date on security vulnerabilities and apply necessary patches.
  • Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies. Regularly test backups to ensure recoverability. Perform database restores as needed.
  • Diagnose and resolve database-related issues. Provide support to developers and other stakeholders regarding database access and performance.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of new database schemas and applications.
  • Provide recommendations on database design best practices.
  • Automate routine database administration tasks using scripting languages (e.g., shell
  • scripting, Python).
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Work closely with developers, system administrators, and other team members to ensure the smooth operation of database systems.
  • Monitor database storage capacity and plan for future growth. Make recommendations for hardware upgrades as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience as a DBA, with a focus on PostgreSQL and MySQL.
  • Strong understanding of database administration principles and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with installing, configuring, and maintaining PostgreSQL and MySQL

database servers.

  • Proficiency in SQL and database query optimization techniques.
  • Experience with cloud-based database services (AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL, Azure SQL

Database)

  • Experience with database performance monitoring and tuning tools.
  • Knowledge of database security best practices.
  • Experience with backup and recovery procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., shell scripting, Python) is a plus.
  • Advanced certifications in database administration (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) are a

plus.

  • Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL) is a

plus.

  • Experience with NoSQL databases is a plus.
