Job Summary

The Junior Consultant and Senior Registrar in Obstetrics & Gynecology will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to patients in both obstetric and gynecological settings. The roles involve patient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and assisting in surgical and delivery procedures under the supervision of senior consultants.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive antenatal and postnatal assessments.
  • Manage normal and high-risk pregnancies.
  • Perform and assist in normal vaginal deliveries, instrumental deliveries, and cesarean sections.
  • Handle obstetric emergencies including PPH, eclampsia, shoulder dystocia, etc.
  • Provide care for gynecological conditions such as fibroids, endometriosis, PCOD, infertility, and menstrual disorders.
  • Perform minor and major gynecological procedures (e.g., D&C, tubal ligation, hysterectomy depending on role).
  • Participate in ultrasound scanning and fetal well-being monitoring.
  • Assist in or perform laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeries as per experience level.

Academic & Administrative Duties

  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records.
  • Participate in departmental rounds, case discussions, and academic sessions.
  • Assist in training and supervising residents, interns, and nursing staff (primarily for JC).
  • Support senior consultants in patient management and departmental operations.
  • Participate in audits, CME programs, and clinical research activities.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital protocols, infection control, and patient safety standards.

Skills & Competencies

  • Sound clinical knowledge in obstetrics and gynecology.
  • Proficiency in emergency obstetric and gynecological procedures.
  • Good diagnostic and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and patient counselling skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Compassionate and ethical approach to patient care.

Qualifications

  • For Senior Registrar: MS / DNB / DGO (Obstetrics & Gynecology) with 1–2 years of post-qualification experience.
  • For Junior Consultant: MS / DNB / DGO (Obstetrics & Gynecology) with 1–5 years of post-qualification experience.

Work Schedule

  • Rotational duties including night shifts, emergency calls, and on-call coverage as per hospital policy.
