Role Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented
Hardware Design Engineer
to lead and execute hardware engineering activities for industrial automation projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in
IO list finalization
,
data segregation
,
IO assignment
,
heat load calculations
,
GA drawings
,
power wiring
,
cable scheduling
, and
system architecture preparation across multiple levels (L1–L5)
.


Key Responsibilities:

  • IO Engineering:
  • Finalize IO list in coordination with process and instrumentation teams
  • Segregate IOs based on system architecture, panel layout, and field instrumentation
  • Assign IOs to controllers, marshalling panels, and remote IOs
  • System Architecture & GA Drawings:
  • Prepare detailed system architecture diagrams for Level 1 to Level 5:
  • L1:
    Field Instruments
  • L2:
    IO Panels / Marshalling
  • L3:
    Controllers / PLCs / DCS
  • L4:
    SCADA / HMI / Engineering Workstations
  • L5:
    Enterprise / Cloud / Historian

  • Develop General Arrangement (GA) drawings for control panels, IO panels, and MCCs

  • Power & Wiring Design:

  • Design power distribution for control systems
  • Create power wiring diagrams and terminal layouts

  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety and redundancy standard

  • Cable Engineering:

  • Prepare detailed cable schedules including cable types, routing, and termination

  • Coordinate with site teams for cable tray layouts and field connectivity

  • Heat Load & Panel Design:

  • Perform heat load calculations for control panels

  • Select cooling systems (fans, AC units) based on thermal analysis

  • Documentation & Standards:

  • Generate BOMs, wiring diagrams, and hardware specifications
  • Ensure designs comply with IEC, ISA, and customer-specific standards
  • Support FAT/SAT and resolve hardware-related issues during commissioning


Required Skills & Tools:

  • Proficiency in

  • Strong understanding of
    industrial protocols

  • Knowledge of
    electrical codes

    safety norms
  • Experience with
    Excel-based IO mapping
    ,
    heat load calculators
    , and
    GA templates


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation Engineering
  • 3–8 years of experience in hardware engineering for industrial automation
  • Exposure to
    process industries
    like oil & gas, water treatment, pharma, or chemicals is preferred
