Role & responsibilities

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Modeler to design and implement high-quality, scalable data models that support our data warehousing, business intelligence, and analytics initiatives. You will work closely with data architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to define data structures that meet business and technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models for enterprise data systems.
  • Translate business requirements into data models that support long-term solutions.
  • Collaborate with data architects, engineers, and business analysts to ensure data models align with business needs and technical standards.
  • Create and maintain data dictionaries, entity-relationship (ER) diagrams, and metadata documentation.
  • Optimize and refine data models for performance and scalability.
  • Enforce data modeling standards and best practices.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify data needs, inconsistencies, and gaps.
  • Support data governance, data quality, and master data management initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in data modeling or data architecture roles.
  • Strong experience with data modeling tools such as Erwin, ER/Studio, SAP PowerDesigner, or similar.
  • Proficiency in SQL and understanding of relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with data warehousing concepts (e.g., star/snowflake schema, slowly changing dimensions).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Understanding of ETL processes and tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, DBT).
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) and big data technologies is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Agile development environments.
  • Exposure to data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation).
  • Knowledge of industry-standard data privacy and compliance regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Certification in data modeling or data management (e.g., CDMP).
