Role Overview:

The Manager – Controlled Farming will be responsible for planning, operating, and scaling

high-value controlled environment agriculture (CEA) projects across multiple farms and crop

categories. The role focuses on maximizing productivity, profitability, and resource efficiency for

crops such as
microgreens, saffron, mushrooms, exotic fruits, and similar high-margin produce.

The incumbent will leverage technology, data, and best agronomic practices to forecast crop

performance, reduce losses, and ensure consistent year-round output.

Key Responsibilities:

Farm Operations & Crop Management:

● Oversee end-to-end operations of multiple controlled farms across different crop types.

● Plan and manage year-round production cycles for microgreens, saffron, mushrooms,

exotic fruits, and future high-value crops.

● Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality standards, and

food safety norms.

Productivity & Profitability:

● Drive yield optimization, cost control, and profitability across all farm units.

● Monitor input costs, wastage, and operational efficiency; implement corrective actions to

minimize losses.

● Prepare farm-wise budgets, production plans, and profitability reports.

Technology & Data-Driven Farming:

● Implement and manage technologies such as IoT sensors, climate control systems, farm

management software, and data dashboards.

● Forecast crop growth, yield, and harvest schedules using data analytics and historical

performance.

● Continuously evaluate and adopt new agri-tech solutions to improve output and

predictability.

Resource & Team Management:

● Optimize utilization of internal resources including manpower, infrastructure, utilities, and

consumables.

● Lead, train, and monitor farm supervisors and technical staff across locations.

● Ensure smooth coordination between agronomy, operations, procurement, and sales

teams.

Quality, Risk & Compliance:

● Ensure consistent product quality aligned with market and buyer requirements.

● Identify operational risks (climate, disease, process gaps) and implement preventive

measures.

● Maintain compliance with relevant agricultural, safety, and environmental regulations.

Qualifications & Experience:

● Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, Agri-Business, or a

related field.

● 5–10 years of experience in controlled farming, protected cultivation, or high-value crop

management.

Hands-on exposure to crops such as microgreens, mushrooms, saffron, hydroponics, or

exotic fruits is strongly preferred.
