WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

We are looking for a talented HMI Designer to join our design studio to design user experiences that are progressive, exciting, beautiful, and easy to use. Designers who are enthusiastic about automotive based UI and HMI design are preferred.

The ideal candidate should have an eye for clean and artful design, possess superior visual and motion design skills and be able to translate high-level requirements into interaction flows and artefacts, and transform them into beautiful, intuitive, and functional user interfaces.

We prefer someone who loves collaborating with others and isn't afraid to roll-up their sleeves and do whatever it takes to get the job done.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN AND DO:

• Refine and apply the visual language and interaction model for Matter's automotive HMI experience and beyond.

• Develop high level and/or detailed GUI, wireframes, and motion graphics to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.

• Collaborate constructively with designers, engineers, researchers, and external partners

• Execute all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off to engineering.

• Develop, improve, and use wireframes, prototypes, style guides, user flows around customer needs and effectively communicate your interaction ideas using any of these methods.

• Present and defend your design decisions. All your design decisions should be based on the overall design roadmap as well as your own design thinking and fundamental principles (i.e., colour theory, visual weight, etc.)

• Communicate design ideas and prototypes to developers and designers, brainstorm with developers to find ways of executing your vision.

• Work with UX Researchers to conduct and conceptualise usability testing and gather feedback.

• Keep abreast of competitor products and industry trends and continued education and research into UI trends and current design strategy and technology.

• Contribute to the creation and iterative development of a design system for digital interaction with our users.

• Present and defend your design decisions. All your design decisions should be based on the overall design roadmap as well as your own design thinking and fundamental principles (i.e., colour theory, visual weight, etc.)

• Continually keep yourself and your design team updated with the latest changes in your industry's standards.

• Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices, and standards.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO US:

• Experience designing automotive interfaces or applications

• Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction.

• Hands-on experience creating wireframes, prototypes, user flows, motion graphics and micro interactions is a must.

• Strong understanding of prototyping for micro interactions and animations with respect to UI design. And proficiency with visual design and high-fidelity prototyping tools (Figma, Adobe XD, After Effects and ProtoPie preferred)

• Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams, with developers, UX researchers, UX designers and copywriters.

• Ability to present your designs and sell your solutions to various stakeholders and make deliberate design decisions and to translate any given user-experience journey into a smooth and intuitive interface.

• Understanding of Android system and GUI for Android based HMI systems.

• Openness to receiving constructive criticism and improving upon it.

• Problem-solving aptitude and excellent communication skills

• Portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual communication/ interaction design experience with motion graphics to be presented and defended during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Degree in Design, Information Technology or equivalent.

• 2-3 years of demonstrated experience in mobile, product, interaction, or information design industry creating and implementing User Interfaces.

• Bonus points for cross-cultural design experience.

• Strong portfolio to be presented and defended during the interview.
